Aluminium an Important metal for India's Sustainable and Circular Economy

Abstract

Metals are ubiquitous in everyone’slife and increasing consumption of metal has put pressure on natural resources which are now depleting at a faster pace. These resources can be used efficiently and preserved for future use by adopting circular economic model for sustainable development. Metals are best fit to circular economic model and aluminiumis one of the most important metals and a key contributor to the circular economic model because of its property and recyclability. In this context, the paper aims to analyse how aluminium metal can contribute to the circular and sustainable economic model. The contribution is analysed based on parameters like properties of aluminium, energy consumption, recycling ability, environmental and societal impacts. This paper also identifies the challenges and its solutions associated with the Indian aluminium industry and focuses on solutions which can enhance aluminium consumption in India. The methodology adopted in this paper is secondary research and data is collected from various sources like journal papers, published articles, government and institutional publications.
